Rita

painting

An elderly woman with glasses, wearing a red and black plaid shirt, a yellow apron with the name "Rita" written on it, smiling while painting on a canvas.

As a child growing up in rural East Texas, I told my parents, “I want to be an artist.” They had no context or resources to help.

That desire to be an artist was a calling that never left, even though through the decades, I’ve struggled to engage with art consistently.

Now in my seventies, that artist child is happily smearing paint around and is excited to show her work.

Rocky

multimedia

Photo of Rocky, a man with a beard and mustache wearing a fedora hat, a black shirt, and a necklace with a cross pendant.

Through photography and watercolor, I meticulously translate the quiet beauty of the natural world that God is showing me, intentionally weaving in symbolism to deepen the narrative.

My practice as a colorist is also dedicated to evoking liminal, nostalgic memories, offering viewers a space for contemplative engagement with light, time, and hidden meaning.
